Well, I haven't posted in a while. So call me retarded, but here are my thoughts on the wonderful new children's movie, Happy Feet. Enjoy. Feel free to leave your thoughts on it. (This was after somone told me that they hadn't noticed the political side of it, and they had taken it for what it was [a cartoon] and not complicated it.) I'm not trying to complicate it-- I'm just saying that stupid liberals who control Hollywood try to indoctrinate children by putting their political views into children's movies. I think it's pretty much retarded. I'm not trying to make a big deal out of it... I'm just saying that if you watch it and actually think about what the message they're trying to get across is, it's not so nice of a movie. But if you want to sit through it and not think about the whole point of the movie, then it's a good movie. And besides that, I think it was innappropriate to have so much sexual innuendo in a children's movie. Even the opening song said crap like "I want your body from dusk til dawn." What the heck? Is that really something that a seven-year-old should be thinking about? Or think about even just the main theme in the movie-- it's mating season and a few penguins have trouble getting a girl. That's actually kind of gross. When you give animals personalities and have them singing songs about wanting other animal's bodies, mating becomes sex. And that is innappropriate for children. And then on top of that there's the issue of the older, "elder" penguins who were making fun of Christians. Saying things like that they needed to cast out the penguin who was supposedly causing problems, and using words like "thee" and "thou". Sorry if I was complicating the movie by noticing that, but when people make fun of my religion I am offended. Even if you don't think that the old penguins were any kind of parallel to Christianity (which I absolutely think they were, but whatever) then think of it this way: they were the elder penguins. They were holidng the younger generation, which had the right ideals, back from doing the right thing. They were stupid and thought that a food shortage was because there was a penguin who couldn't sing. What does that tell a young person about people older than themselves? Reading into it further, they were not only the oldest, they were men. The father was also a man. The men were the last to accept Mumble as a "person" and not an outcast just because his talents were different. Most movies and shows portray the man, especially the father, as an idiot. If you don't believe me, then think about movies or shows you've seen recently. My main problem with it is that it was a children's movie and it had all these points I've mentioned in it. Children are very impressionable, and using something like a movie that they're going to sit and mindlessly watch over and over is a very powerful psychological tool. Call me a freak for evaluating it, which is actually taking it for what it's worth, rather than mindlessly taking it in, but whatever. It offended me just as a Christian by stomping on values I hold and making fun of my religion. |
